  Boom Trikes Outing

A massive thanks to Boom Trikes who very kindly accepted us at their workshop and let us see all the weird and wonderful 3 wheeled machines they had to offer.  This was an excellent turn out by our chapter who all proudly wore their colours!

Christmas Party - Blue Lamp Foundation & UK COPS Presentation

At our annual Christmas Party a large cheque was presented by our president Tom ELLIOT to Sharron ASHURST who attended representing the Blue Lamp Foundation of which £500 was raised and HSBC very kindly matched our contribution so in total £1000 was given to them.  Christine FULTON from UK COPS was also handed a cheque for £500.  This is just a small part of the fundraising that we do to raise money for some very worthy causes.  Congratulations to all our chapter and friends/family who helped make this possible!

  UK COPS - LAWRIDE

The 2011 Lawride turned out to be a really humbling experience of which the weather stood fast and created a really enjoyable rideout.  But this was not about the rideout, it never has been, its about honouring our fallen colleagues.  The Blue Knights were given numerous mentions about their support to COPS and what a sight to see so many bikes and riders sporting our colours!

St George's Day Bike Blessing 2011

Our Chapter chaplain, Jerry Sutton, President Tom ELLIOT and new kid on the block Chris PARRY organised Bike Blessing 2011 at Dunham Massey on 1st May.
There was a parade starting from Eccles, Manchester and registration was just £5.00
There was a ride through the deer park and we munched on burgers and sandwhiches then checked out all the bikes - turnout was 140 people which is down on previous years although this was a different venue to previous years, but the new Bike Blessing website was loved all round!  Check it out for next year at www.bikeblessing.co.uk

Not wanting to wait Bob Sparks performs his own Blessing!

  A Wedding To Rememeber

When Roger and Sharon said they wanted their wedding to be a Blue Knights event we couldn't have guessed just how much they meant it.

Officiated by New York 1 past President Chet Parker, they had a pagan ceremony outdoors, at Sedgeley Park, the training centre of Greater Manchester Police. The bride arrived on a trike ridden by chapter President Tom Elliott and the groom wore a Blue Knights tartan kilt. There were colours on display all around the centre.

Taking their vows in front of fellow Knights was what the couple had always wanted, and the event was filmed for TV, with the three other brides in the competition present as guests. After the ceremony the couple and their guests could stroll across the grounds before enjoying a delicious dinner and a rocking evening. Boss Hogg drove the music along and Trevor from England 1 had them dancing in the aisles.

Roger, Sharon, from all the chapter and the Blue Knights everywhere, we wish you a long and happy marriage and some great riding together!

  Bike Blessing 2011
We started by leading a huge pack of bikes from Manchester Harley Davidson. There were so many clubs there were just too many to count. The sun shone and Dunham Massey is a beautiful place.

Tom asked us for a good turnout, and it was, though it could have been more. Those who didn't make it missed something good, with a real welcome at the Church, from our own Chaplain Jerry, and there was a rocking band and farm shop victuals after the blessing!

Olivia was there on her own new bike. Black and red. So stylish! LOL

Harry turned up in his reflective mesh jacket instead of his colours. Doh!!

Some of our most far flung members also turned out, Keith Eccles came over the Pennines and our Welsh contingent arrived too! There is no doubt that the best marshals there were the Blue Knights, and we could do with more of you learning to do it!

Tom organised the  marshalling which was something very important. At every junction the wait must have tempted some of the car drivers to butt in, but the sheers numbers, from Vespas to Trikes, would have intimidated anyone not aware of what gentlemen we are.

Pete's extremely loud CBF was like a flashing light passing through the lines of bikes. What a great colour!

Our editor and Vice President arrived with his lovely wife, then spent the time walking away from her unless she was bringing him tea or summat!  I don't think we've ever seen him smiling for so long!

He tells us he lost pounds because he had to walk so far to see all the bikes.

  UK Cops Presentation

England V members can be proud that their chapter was able, in April, to present £1000 to UKCOPS, which is struggling to keep up with demands for its services.
An old friend of ours was on hand to accept the cheque from president Tom Elliott.
Geoff has enjoyed his visits to England V and told the room that without the Blue Knights and UKCOPS he couldn't imagine them making it through the pain of their loss.
Tom Elliott took the time to remind us that the club recruits from other law enforcement agencies and thanked them for their understanding and help with fund raising. The presentation took place at a chapter meeting with a great turnout.

  Christmas Party
Well the Christmas party may be over but the memories will linger on. Visitors to Manchester spent Friday demolishing a great curry along the world famous curry mile, and on Saturday those who wanted to went to the Theatre of Dreams to watch Manchester United destroy their opposition 5-0 (It seems only Manchester City beat them consistently?)
Sedgeley Park once again proved to be a superb venue and members of the chapter took care of our visitors very well. The accommodation is some of the best at any rally. You can choose not only to eat breakfast, but how much you want to eat too. Excellent troughing.
Happily, and in usual England V tradition, there were few speeches and large amounts of fluid to consume.
A great band made the floor bounce and the night passed all too quickly.  There was a quiet bar and the police orchestra who were also there contributed greatly to the fundraising. Our Belgian guests have made contact to say how much they enjoyed their stay and we hope to see them again soon. Thanks to Tom and his team.
